President’s Report February 2025A little late this month, I’m finding work gets in the way Surely there must be a better solution than having to work for a living. Anyway with apologies to all I off

end here goes:

A few things covered at the meeting:

1: The first aid course has been booked for Sunday 15th June starting at 10am at the Moss Vale services club, final details to come at next month's meeting.

2: The club is putting on Christmas in April, that is a short ride ending at Schmokin’ with a FREE coffee and roll like at the Christmas party last year. That will be on Sunday 6th April, watch out for further details.

3: Due to the diligence and resourcefulness of Rob Hanna and Greg Nelson we now have eftpos available for payments to the club, club menbership dues will be sent out beginning of March and need to be paid by the end of March to remain financial.

4: There was another big response in the return of club vests with none being handed in this month, but it didn’t matter because Mick wasn’t at the meeting anyway, please bring them to the SHIT ride or next meeting.

5: There will be no Distinguished Gentlemen’s Ride in the Southern Highlands this year, apparently there are too few available Distinguished Gentlemen turning out due to the weather being freezing cold at the end of May. Maybe next year.

6: Sadly, we heard of the passing of Phil Yates, following a stroke at Christmas time. He was vice president when I joined the club and was a man who liked to take the contrary stance just to be contrary. Even though I bore the brunt of this on one occasion I found him entertaining and have mixed but mainly fond memories of him.

7: Kevin Roberts floated the suggestion of taking some of the older bikes around to local nursing homes for the old blokes to have a look and reminisce about times gone by. Or to pick up chicks. Either way Kevin will look into the feasability with Harbisons initially. If we don’t hear back from Kevin we will assume the home has mistaken him for an escapee and kept him.

8: Trev from Dragon Motorcycles has a client with a couple of old BMW’s for sale, mostly complete but non runners. There is an R69s(?) for $15,000 and a R75/5 that the owner hopes to get $10,000 for. Contact Trevor at Dragon Motorcycles

Upcoming events:

1: Lunch Ride this Sunday, 9;30 for 10 departure to Shoalhaven Hotel via Nerriga

2: Thursday Rides 9:30 at Bradman Oval on Thursday 13th and Thursday 27th

3: Mick Lendrums SHIT ride will be on Wednesday 26th (watch out for the vests)

4: Cars and Coffee is back to the last Sunday of the Month

5: Coffee Ride Sunday 2nd March 9:30 for 10am

6: And last but not least, Mick Simpson has organised an overnight ride to Boorawa via parts distant for Saturday 17th May, staying at the Boorowa Hotel. Rooms can be booked on (02) 63853000. I have booked and I suspect Mick had a word to the proprietors as they gleefully said I’d get the room next to the toilet. The last two years Mick’s Winter ride has been a good time and despite not taking in the Kelso Hotel (the Vegas of the Central West) I’m sure this will too. We might even try to stay up past 9pm this year.

Next meeting is on 10th March, till then Ride Well

Kevin Roberts raised the possibility of taking old bikes to Harbison for the residents, especially the older male residents. Kevin will approach Harbison.  Club thinks it’s a great idea.

Motorcycle gear for sale $50 whole lot..

Rob Hanna got his Triumph back on the road.  Ran fine until the non-fuel rated immersed hose vapourised.

Greg Nelson bought a(nother) motorcycle! Came with a stack of magazines. He will bring a few in every meeting.

Paul Roodenrys sold a 250 trail bike he thought was beyond viable repair.  Starting price $250, buyer offered $175, shook hands at $200. Eventual sale price $150 as the exhaust fell off when loading. The new owner, Alan, had the bike running and registered three weeks later. Paul wished he stuck to $200.

Rob: No DGR this year, with timing changed the weather is often dicey, low numbers so a decision to not have a ride this year has been made.  Other rides, Canberra, Nowra, Sydney,
